FIELD: agriculture. ^ SUBSTANCE: 24-hour chickens are examined with regard to their live weight, exterior, visual assessment of wing for development of tectrix and flight feather. Notably selection by sex is carried out at 2-3-d day of age on base of feather index, which is determined by ratio of length of tectrix and the fourth flight feather by expression: Ifeather= Lt/Lfx100%. Also feather index of slowly feathered male chickens is 115% and more, while for fast feathered female chickens this index is less 60%. ^ EFFECT: upgraded accuracy of selection by sex, increased preservation and live weight of chickens selected and raised by sex. ^ 3 tbl |
