<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mono-domain vertically aligned liquid crystal display device subjected to multiplex driving, in which display uniformity is improved at a large (close to 90°) pretilt angle. <P>SOLUTION: Waveforms A having a duty ratio of 1/4 or more and a frame frequency f are applied to a mono-domain vertically aligned liquid crystal cell. The frame frequency f is determined depending on a pretilt angleθp: whenθp is in a range of 88.5°≤θp<89.6°, the frequency is not less than 60 Hz; and whenθp is in a range of 89.6°≤θp≤89.9°, the frequency is not less than [120×(θp-89.6)+60] Hz. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
