<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent image by properly controlling the conveying speed of a paper, thereby preventing an image from being spoiled due to irregularities in a toner image transferred to the paper. <P>SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus, a PS roller 14, a transfer area G and a fixing unit 12 are arranged in this order in the conveying direction of the paper, in a paper conveying path. The image forming apparatus is provided with a paper position detecting means (including a paper sensor 17) for detecting the position of the paper in the paper conveying path and a control means for setting the paper conveying speed by the PS roller 14 to a first speed higher than the paper conveying speed of the transfer area G, until the paper position detecting means detects that the top end of the paper reaches a first position where the top end of the paper is held between both rollers of the fixing unit 12 and reducing the paper conveying speed by the PS roller 14 to a second speed lower than the first speed, when the paper position detecting means detects that the top end of the paper reaches the first position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
