PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the trouble that an area incapable of obtaining tracking information is accessed. SOLUTION: A DVD player 10 playing back a DVD-RW16 obtains tracking information by a DPD tracking system and plays back a recording information. When it is recognized that a value recorded in the Last recorded address of last RZone in the Bordered area which can be accessed by the DPD tracking system is 30000h, a control part 13 0f the DVD player 10 informs that it is error to an instruction reading Anchor point issued by a host device 18, or, danger in which an access instruction for unrecorded area is issued from the host device 18 and by which burden for an optical pickup becomes larger is reduced by enabling to recognize early a state of the DVD-RW16 by the host device 18 by sending out 00h.
