PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion balance adjusting circuit which can electrically adjust ion balance without changing the high voltage applied on a discharge needle and without requiring a new power supply for adjustment electrode. SOLUTION: The ion balance adjusting circuit is used for an static eliminator having an discharge electrode and a guard electrode grounded to it and adjusts the potential of an ion balance adjustment electrode arranged between the discharge electrode and the guard electrode to a potential different from the ground. The static eliminator is provided with the discharge electrode in which discharge needles of 2n pieces are divided into two groups of n pieces, a high voltage generating circuit which impresses a DC high voltage of mutually reverse polarity on each discharge needle for both groups at the same time and by reversing the polarity for every certain period, the guard electrode grounded which shields the front space where the ion is sent out with an appropriate shape, the ion balance adjustment electrode, and the ion balance adjusting circuit which can adjust the potential of the ion balance adjustment electrode to a potential different from the ground.
