A device for selecting a motor controller in which transmission mechanism elements can be combined in series or parallel and the combination of transmission mechanism elements is stored as a subsystem model, the subsystem model thus stored can be utilized as the transmission mechanism elements in combination, and the subsystem model can be configured in any number of layers. A method for selecting a motor controller, a computer program having that function and a storage medium are also provided.
