<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently cool a discharge lamp, in relation to a light source, in particular, a light source used for a projector. <P>SOLUTION: This light source device includes a discharge lamp, and a reflecting mirror surrounding the circumference of the discharge lamp, and reflecting light in a certain direction, and has, on the reflecting mirror, a slit-like opening guiding cooling air from the outside to the discharge lamp. The light source device is structured such that cooling air from a cooling fan directly hits against the discharge lamp through the slit without largely changing the flow of the cooling air. Thereby, the temperature of the discharge lamp is changed with high responsiveness with respect to control of the cooling air. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
