<p>A connecting bolt is composed of a cylindrical rod with a continuous helical rib around a circular surface thereof, and a guide member made integral with the rod in a way extending beyond a tip of the rod and having an outer diametral dimension equal or less than a dimension between diametrically opposed bottom lands in the helical rib, a cavity made throughout both the rod and the guide member to accommodate chips therein, self-tapping screw made on the helical rib near the guide member, more than two slots made throughout both the self-tapping screw and the guide member to allow the chips to move into the chip cavity, and a coupling means like the bolt or nut in shape and made integral with a tailing end of the rod. The connecting rod may be easily fixed to a wooden column or cross-beam and also desirable from the view point of appearance aesthetics because the fixture of the connecting rod is unexposed outside.</p> |
