PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color measuring unit that is easily mounted in a recording apparatus, measures color with high accuracy, and improves the convenience by allowing independent operation of the color measuring unit, and to provide a recording apparatus having the color measuring unit. SOLUTION: The color measuring unit 1 is equipped with, as an integrated unit, a calorimeter holder 32 holding a calorimeter 31, a carriage reciprocating means 33 that is connected to the calorimeter holder and has a calorimeter carriage 51 for reciprocally moving the calorimeter holder in a column direction formed by a color measuring pattern B, a pressing member 34 that takes a pressing posture for pressing the surface of a recording member on which the color measuring pattern is recorded when color is measured, and takes a retreated posture where the pressing member retreats from the pressing posture position so that the recording member can be transported when color is not measured, and a rotating and shifting means 35 for switching the pressing posture and the retreated posture of the pressing member.
