PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeposition coating method which can effectively reuse the cleaning water that has been used for washing in a secondary washing means in an electrodeposition coating process. SOLUTION: The electrodeposition coating method comprises: a film-forming step of forming an electrodeposition coating film of a lead-free cationic electrodeposition paint composition on the surface of an article to be coated; a primary washing step of washing the obtained painted article; a secondary washing step of washing the painted article that has been cleaned in the primary washing step by using washing water; and a final washing step of washing the painted article that has been cleaned in the secondary washing step.
