PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the absolute position of a recording medium by using a simple structure with limitation in design restricted to the minimum at low costs without adding a special structure such as a sensor to a roller comprising an existing incremental encoder. SOLUTION: The ratio of rotation of a conveying roller provided with a first encoder to rotation of a delivery roller provided with a second encoder is set at R1:R2. When the number of slit in the first encoder is L1 and the number of slit in the encoder is L2, a value of R1 x L1 and a value of R2 x L2 have a relation that they are a prime number to each other.
