PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide mesoporous titania having a small diameter, which can be used widely in industry, and to provide its preparation method. SOLUTION: (1) The method of preparing amorphus mesoporous titania includes a process I of carrying out a dehydration condensation at 5-100°C by adding a quaternary ammonium surfactant, alkoxy titanium and/or hydroxy titanium to an aqueous alkaline solution. (2) The amorphus mesoporous titania is prepared by the method and has a peak top of 1-2 nm obtained by BJH method from a nitrogen adsorption isotherm and a pore volume of 0.2-0.5 cm<SP>3</SP>/g.
