PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic field generating device for a MRI, applied to various magnetic field generating devices, and preventing separation of a permanent magnet constituting a permanent magnet group. SOLUTION: This magnetic field generating device 10 for the MRI includes a pair of permanent magnet groups 14a, 14b. The paired permanent magnet groups 14a, 14b including a plurality of permanent magnets 20 adhering to each other are disposed opposite to each other with a void. The permanent magnet groups 14a, 14b include a projecting part 18 projecting outward over a contact part with magnetic pole pieces 16a, 16b. Plate-like members 42, 44 connecting the plurality of permanent magnets 20 to each other are fitted to the void side surface 18a and the outer peripheral surface 18b of the projecting part 18 at need.
