The device (1) has two ropes (3, 4) guided over fixed cable pulleys (6, 8) in cable grooves of the pulleys. A web (2) and web-feeding strips and straps are clamped between the cables. The pulleys are shifted from a stand-by position into an operating position in a web level for transferring the web. The fixed cable pulleys are arranged for extracting and retracting movable cable pulleys (7, 9). The pulleys (7, 9) include an outer contour for sorting the pulleys during extracting in a lateral extraction direction (S) departing from a web edge (10) for retaining in the cable grooves.
