A hot plate 2 and cooking vessel 6 comprises a hot plate with an electrical heating element, a cooking vessel and means to secure the cooking vessel to the hot plate. Preferably the securement means is in the form of a recess in the base of the cook pot which receives the top of the hot plate (fig 2A) that may have a projection (fig 2D) and/or a recess in the top of the hot plate (fig 2B and 2D) which receives the base of the cook pot that may have a projection (fig 2C). The recesses may be tapered. Alternatively the securment means may be a catch mechanism or the feet of the cook pot that extend over the perimeter of the hot plate. The heating element control 3 may project from the side of the hot plate, and the base of the cook pot may have a recess 8 to accommodate the control device. The lid 10 of the cook pot may be made from transparent glass with a metallic periphery 11. The hot plate may also have protruding feet 5A, 5B, 5C that prevent the transfer of heat from the hot plate to the surface that it is resting upon. Preferably the hot plate sits on a base support member 13. |
