PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article that satisfies practical characteristics such as adhesiveness of a coating to a substrate and weather resistance in an article with a coating including a vapor-deposition layer, made of a metal or a metal compound and provided on the surface of a substrate by an ion plating method, and a resin protective layer provided on the vapor-deposition layer. SOLUTION: A primer layer 6 is formed on the surface of a substrate 2. A vapor-deposition layer 4 made of a metal or a metal compound is formed on the primer layer by an ion plating method. A protective layer 5 is formed on the vapor-deposition layer by coating paint containing a polymer alloy composed of 20-70 mass.% of an acrylic resin component, 10-70 mass.% of a urethane resin component, and 0.5-20 mass.% of a silicone resin component (however, a total amount of the acrylic resin component, the urethane resin component, and the silicone resin component is 100 mass.%). Consequently, it is possible to obtain an article 1 with a coating 3. If pin holes exist in the vapor-deposition layer 4, it improves adhesiveness of the coating 3 including the primer layer 6, the protective layer 5, and the vapor-deposition layer 4 to the substrate 2.
