PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet carrying device enabling a user to recognize the presence/absence of sheets on a paper discharging tray, even if the color of the sheet is both of bright and dark, and even if an obstacle shielding a visual axis of the user exists on the paper discharging tray. SOLUTION: A document receiving surface 33a receiving a document M of a document discharging tray 33 is a generally rectangular, and equipped with a bright color area L and a dark color area D. A border line B of those continues from a front side of the document receiving surface 33a when viewed from the user to a position on which the discharged document M is placed.
