The invention relates to an escape route marking for a passenger compartm ent in an airplane comprising a plurality of elongated segments disposed con secutively along the escape route to be marked, wherein each segment compris es a carrier module and a light module disposed on the carrier module, and t he light module has a substantially transparent plastic material in which ar e mixed photoluminescent pigments, which glow in the dark, the pigments bein g microscopically encapsulated in a second material such that liquid and moi sture do not come in contact with the pigments.
