PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner permitting effective use of a dust collection bag by securely detecting the state of the dust collection bag. SOLUTION: The state of the dust collection bag 8 can be securely detected by detecting the state of expansion of the dust collection bag 8 by each light emitting/receiving part 43 and detecting the input current in an electric fan 6 by an electric current sensor. When the light emitting/receiving part 43 detects that the dust collection bag 8 is not expanded and when the input in the electric fan 6 detected by the electric current sensor is at least a preset value, it is determined that the dust collection bag 8 is not sufficiently expanded, and a control part increases the input of the electric fan 6 is increased. The dust collection bag 8 is expanded by the pressure of suction of the electric fan 6, so that the dust collection bag 8 can be effectively used. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
