PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anthracene derivative suitably used as a green-colored light-emitting material in an organic electroluminescent element, and also constituting the excellent organic electroluminescent element having a high light-emitting efficiency and excellent in life characteristics. SOLUTION: This anthracene derivative is expressed by general formula (1). As a specific example, the compound wherein Ar1to Ar4are phenyl groups, and A and B are hydrogen atoms can be cited.
