DETOXICATION METHOD OF ASBESTOS AND DETOXICATION APPARATUS THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detoxication method of asbestos and a detoxication apparatus therefor capable of suppressing the energy cost low and reliably detoxifying asbestos without entirely scattering the asbestos to the outside without adding any additive to an asbestos recovered product produced when removing asbestos attached to a building or the like by using a konjac hydrate.

SOLUTION: The detoxication method comprises processes: of heating the asbestos recovered product comprising at least cement material or an alkaline compound in addition to gelatinized konjac hydrate and asbestos in a furnace to vaporize moisture; and of subsequently thermally treating the asbestos in the presence of the alkaline compound. The detoxication apparatus comprises: a furnace of thermally treating the asbestos recovered product; a heat exchanger which guides water vapor produced in the furnace through an exhaust duct provided with a switching device and cools the water vapor to separate condensed water; a temperature sensor and a pressure sensor which sense temperature and pressure in the furnace; and a control means of controlling the temperature and pressure in the furnace.
