<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detoxify an asbestos-containing material while ensuring safety to workers and make the effective use of fuel energy used for the detoxification and the detoxification processing-received asbestos. <P>SOLUTION: After an asbestos-containing material is pulverized to be 90μm or larger and 5 mm or smaller in size, the pulverized material is mixed with liquid fuel to generate slurry, and then the slurry is sprayed into a cement kiln through a main burner or a slurry-exclusive burner. After the asbestos-containing material is mixed with the liquid fuel, the material is pulverized to be 90μm or larger and 5 mm or smaller in size, and the slurry thus generated can be sprayed into the cement kiln. As the asbestos-containing material is handled in a slurry state, the asbestos is prevented from scattering to ensure safety to workers, and the liquid fuel itself contained in the slurry burns to form a high-temperature frame, and the asbestos is denatured to be a harmless material. A waste oil as the liquid fuel is added at a rate of 20 mass% or larger and 500 mass% or smaller to the asbestos-containing material.
