TREATMENT METHOD OF ASBESTOS WASTE BY MICROWAVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method of asbestos waste capable of subjecting dangerous asbestos waste to volume reduction treatment at a relatively low temperature without scattering it to the open air. SOLUTION: Asbestos waste, a carbonaceous substance such as coke or the like having a microwave absorbing capacity, a metal oxide and an oxide type auxiliary such as CaO or the like are housed in a refractory container 2 having microwave transmittance and irradiated with the microwave within a hermetically closed oven 1. The metal oxide is reduced by heating the carbonaceous substance with the microwave and the asbestos waste is treated in the produced molten slag to be detoxified. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
