PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat pump unit and an automatic vending machine, capable of surely closing a solenoid valve disposed at an outlet side of an intermediate heat exchanger, in a case when a first-stage compressing portion and a second-stage compressing portion of a two-stage compressor are directly connected with each other. SOLUTION: A refrigerant compressed by the first-stage compressing portion 1a of the compressor 1 of the heat pump unit 100 flows into the second-stage compressing portion 1b through the intermediate heat exchanger 2 or after bypassing it. A second opening and closing valve 21v as the solenoid valve is disposed at a joint portion of an outlet side of the intermediate heat exchanger 2 and a bypass pipe 22. The second opening and closing valve 21v has a cylinder 200 comprising an end face through hole 201 and a side face through hole 202, a spool 220 received in the cylinder 200, a valve element 210 and a spring 230, the end face through hole 201 is connected with an intermediate heat exchanger 2 side (close-in position B side), and the side face through hole 202 is connected with a joint portion side (joint point A) with the bypass pipe 22.
