PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent print data from causing poor ejection, extreme fall off of ejection, or degradation of image quality in a recorder comprising an ink jet head having an array of a plurality of nozzles for ejecting ink. SOLUTION: The recorder has a means for storing the position of a nozzle which cannot eject ink among a plurality of nozzles arranged in an array. For a plurality of normal nozzles located near the nonejection nozzle in the nozzle array including the nonejection nozzle, ejection data of the nonejection nozzle is assigned to the normal nozzles depending on the priority of supplementing nonejection and the position adjoining the printing position of the nonejection nozzle. A means for assigning the ejection data of the nonejection nozzle every time when the data of a column along the scanning direction is created for a predetermined number of columns is also provided.
