PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method suitable for efficient and industrial production of an optically active N-aryl-β-amino acid compound which is useful as an intermediate compound for drugs, agrochemicals, and the like. SOLUTION: The method for producing an optically active N-aryl-β-amino acid compound comprises optically resolving a racemic N-aryl-β-amino acid ester by using an ester hydrolase.
