<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of drying up or flooding by controlling flow of cooling water in accordance with an operating state of a fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: In the fuel cell system, the fuel cell is provided with a membrane/electrode assembly consisting of an electrolyte and a pair of electrodes arranged at either side of the electrolyte, and a separator arranged in opposition to one of the pair of electrodes and equipped with a coolant channel circulating a coolant. Further, the fuel cell system is provided with a switching means for reversing a circulation direction of the coolant circulating in the coolant channel between a first direction in which temperature of the coolant gets higher from an upstream side toward a downstream side of a circulation direction of reaction gas supplying to one of the electrodes and a second direction in which temperature of the coolant gets higher from the downstream side toward the upstream side of the circulation direction of the reaction gas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
