<p>Title cpds. of formula (I): are water-sol. bactericides and fungicides prepd. by reacting 1-substd. -2-Me-5-nitroimidazole with an aromatic aldehyde contg. at least one substituent possessing a hydrophilic function or is convertible to such, in a strongly basic medium. In an example 1-(1-Me-5-nitro-2-imidazolyl)-2-(3-MeP-phenyl)-ethylene was prepd. by reaction of 1,2-diMe-5-nitro-imidazole with 3-MeO-benzaldehyde in EtOH contg. K t-butylate.</p> |
