The present invention refers to a method for carrier sense in a communications system and to corresponding receiving and sending nodes of the communications system. The methodology according to the present invention comprises transmitting data several times from a transmitting node to a receiving node and indicating for the transmitting, how often (count down) the data will be transmitted again. This count down mechanism is used for estimating the real channel condition of a sector of a receiving node.
