The oysters (3) are attached individually or in smaller groups to a layer of plastic mesh (1) laid on the bottom (4) of a maturing bed by a blob of mortar (2). Each oyster is held in place by its lower shell, positioning it ideally for perfect development of each mollusc and its shell. The mesh can be, for example, in sections 5 m long by 30 cm wide, with blobs of mortar spaced at 15 cm intervals. |
