An external light shielding sheet and a plasma display device using the same are provided to cut off the external light illuminated to a display panel to increase the contrast of a panel and reduce a ghost phenomenon. A plasma display device includes: plasma display panel; a base unit at which a groove is formed; and a pattern unit which is formed at the groove of the base unit. The plasma display panel includes: a scan electrode(11) and a sustain electrode(12) which are a pair of maintenance electrodes formed at the upper substrate(10); and a address electrode(22) which is formed at a lower substrate(20).
