PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error correcting device for reducing data errors of the entire transmission data and reducing its processing load in a digital broadcast receiver for respectively reproducing video/sound from digital broadcasting transmitted by radio waves and a data stream transmitted through a network. SOLUTION: In the error correcting device used by the digital broadcast receiver for reproducing digital broadcast data STw; Db and a data stream STn, a PH error correcting part 105 applies first error correction processing to a communication packet header 602 of a data stream Stn, and a PL error correcting part 102 applies second error correction processing to communication packet payload 604 of the data stream TSn' subjected to the first error correction processing and the digital broadcast data STw; Db.
