PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a direct injection type engine continuing stable combustion. SOLUTION: The control device comprises: a combustion state detection means outputting a combustion stability signal indicating combustion stability corresponding to change in combustion status of a combustion chamber; and a recovery mode switching means operating the direct injection type engine in a combustion stability recovery mode based on the combustion stability signal. In the combustion stability recovery mode, fuel injection pressure is increased or opening, particularly, in a high load state of the throttle valve is enlarged, and deposit is removed to recover the combustion stability within a predetermined range.
