PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program for compression spring design that narrows input items required when designing a compression spring down to the minimum, facilitates data input by using different colors for input instructions, cuts design time which used to be enormous, and reduces differences in spring specifications due to the differences in a user's personal senses. SOLUTION: A method has been developed in which a diameter of the wire is not input, but minimum data such as a maximum allowable stress are input. The diameter of the wire, a target spring constant or number of active coils, a target free height, etc. (spring specifications) are worked out by calculation, and this method has been programmed so as to achieve automated design. The program also has the function of the conventional calculation method (manual design), and it has been made possible to design a compression spring that matches a user's personal senses in a short time period without having to reentering the values worked out by the automated design program in the manual design program continuously.
