PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agent of in vivo effective elevation of total blood cholesterol for patient with hypocholesterolemia. SOLUTION: Oral administration of a blood cholesterol elevating agent mainly composed of squalene corresponding to a dose of 100-2,000 mg/day to patients with hypocholesterolemia for four week elevated levels of total blood cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol without elevation of LDL-cholesterol or neutral fat.
