PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evacuation apparatus allowing an evacuee to evacuate along an evacuation side wall of a building to a ground surface outside the building. SOLUTION: The evacuee evacuates with frictional pressure contact force by frictional pressure contact materials 30, 40, to be added to a rope 20 in the evacuation apparatus 10. When the evacuee sits on a seat mat 90 connected to the evacuation apparatus 10, the frictional pressure contact force is added to the rope with the gravity of the human body, so as to allow the apparatus 10 stand still. When the human body gets on the apparatus 10 so as to grip an arm handle 50a at the end of an arm 50 and to lower the handle 50a of the arm, the frictional pressure contact force of the apparatus is reduced, so as to allow the apparatus 10 lowered onto the ground surface. Since lowering speed has to be considered, the handle 50a of the arm is vertically moved so as to adjust the lowering speed. Only one person can get on the apparatus 10. When a cylindrical apparatus 100 is held in the upper rope of the apparatus 10 and a human body is hung from the evacuation belt of the cylindrical apparatus 100, a plurality of evacuees can evacuate.
