PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a train position detecting system precisely detecting the position of a train. SOLUTION: The system for detecting the position of a train on the train to which electric power is supplied from electric wire through a pantograph, comprises: an acceleration sensor provided on the pantograph, moving according to distance change between the train and the electric wire during traveling of the train, and detecting vertical direction acceleration; a comparing means comparing the amount of the acceleration detected by the acceleration sensor with a regulated value; a detecting means detecting supporting points of the electric wire on the basis of a compared result of the comparing means; a memory means previously memorizing position information of the supporting points in a predetermined section in which the train travels; and calculating means calculating the position of the train on the basis of a number of the supporting points detected by the detecting means and the position information recorded in the memory means.
