PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a nanophase separated structure having a nanoscale periodical pattern of an area (of the order of several to 100μm) larger than that attained by a conventional technique at low cost by a simple method and to provide a nanophase separated structure obtained thereby. SOLUTION: The method for producing the nanophase separated structure comprises (a) placing a mixture of a crystalline polymer, a polymer compatible with the crystalline polymer, and a crystalline organic solvent on a substrate, wherein the polymer (P1), the polymer (P2), and the solvent (S) satisfy the relationships: Tm-P>Tm-S>Tg-P (wherein Tm-P is the higher of the melting points of the polymers (P1) and (P2); Tm-S is the melting point of the solvent (S); and Tg-P is the glass transition point of a polymer blend comprising the polymers (P1) and (P2)), (b) keeping the substrate at a temperature equal to or higher than Tm-P, and (c) subsequently cooling the substrate to a temperature lower than Tm-S and higher than Tg-P, and keeping the substrate at that temperature.
