PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording system which efficiently heats a magnetic recording medium and facilitates high speed writing. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording system comprises the magnetic recording medium 10 which has magnetic recording layers 4a and 4b on both surfaces of a substrate 2, a first magnetic head 21a which is disposed to face the one magnetic recording layer 4a of the magnetic recording medium 10 and has a magnetic pole 340 and light emitting section 353 on the surface facing the one magnetic recording layer 4a, a second magnetic head 21b which is disposed to face the other magnetic recording layer 4b of the magnetic recording medium 10 and has a magnetic pole 340 and a light emitting section 353 on the surface facing the other magnetic recording layer 4b, and a write control section 80. The write control section 80 irradiates a part of the magnetic recording medium 10 with the light from the light emitting section 353 of either one 21b of the magnetic heads, and supplies the magnetic field from the magnetic pole 340 of the other magnetic head 21a to the part of the magnetic recording medium 10 heated by the irradiation.
