PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning agent comprising a nonionic surfactant which is liquid, is easily handled, has low foamability, and has the capability to wash a wide range of substrates as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: The cleaning agent comprises a compound obtained by adding an alkylene oxide to one or more alkenyl phenols represented by general formula (1), wherein R represents a 13-17C alkenyl group; AO represents a 2-4C oxyalkylene group, and n is an integer of 1-100, and n AO(s) may be the same or different.
