PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer data by DMA (direct memory access) with reduced processing on a host side. SOLUTION: A circuit to be built in a part for controlling DMA data transfer includes a 4K boundary determination circuit 102 which determines whether the data is transferred across a 4K boundary or not; a buffer boundary determination circuit 103 which determines whether the data transfer exceeds a buffer size or not; and a transfer size determination circuit 104 for preferentially using an instructed transfer size when the instructed transfer size is smaller than a maximum transferable size. According to the determination result by these determination circuits, the size of data to be transferred is determined. The present invention can be applied to, for example, a storage system.
