<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-viewpoint video encoder which realizes compression coding of high efficiency by considering corelationship of the images sent from cameras. <P>SOLUTION: The depth information of each of images (2) and (3) of other view points is searched, for a plurality of blocks k (k<kmax+1) constituting an image (1) sent from a camera (S25). A parameter E representing similarity of the depth information searched for them is calculated (S28), which is outputted to a coding part (S29). The parameter E is a reliable index about depth information. The coding part, prior to coding of image (S30), controls whether to apply depth prediction for an image or not, based on the parameter E. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
