OPTICAL SENSOR AND DISPLAY

A small-sized optical sensor not producing noise due to the dark current and a display having the same are provided. The optical sensor comprises photodiodes (9-11) fabricated in the same silicon film (8). The photodiodes (9-11) have p-type semiconductor regions (9a, 10a, 11a) formed in the silicon film (8) and n-type semiconductor regions (9c, 10c, 11c), respectively. The photodiodes are so provided that the forward directions thereof are aligned in line. The n-type semiconductor region of one of two adjacent photodiodes is positioned over the p-type semiconductor region of the other in the direction of the thickness of the silicon film.
