A pallet has a top, load supporting deck with pillar seats on its undersurface engageable with pillars for raising the top deck above a floor or a lower bottom support member also provided with pillar seats. The pillars are spaced apart to allow the entry of a lift fork. Pillars at the corners of the pallets each have a sectional axis 18 extending between the first and second ends of a non-circular cross-section, elliptical or capsular, of the respective pillar. The extension of each axis 18 intersects a central pillar 14. Pillars A are mounted inboard of the edge of the pallet and also have a non-circular section. The orientation of axes 18 of each pillar is positioned so as to guide the lift fork under the top deck. |
