A prophylactic and therapeutic composition for arthritis containing lactic acid bacteria and collagen as an active component is provided, which is effective for prevention and treatment of arthritis by effectively controlling autoimmune reactions and inflammation generated specifically in joints. A prophylactic and therapeutic composition for arthritis contains: lactic acid bacteria and collagen; glucosamine, chondroitin or a combination thereof; malt extract, vitamin D or a combination thereof; and one or more herbal components selected from the group consisting of Actinidia polygama, Opuntia dillenii, Eucommiae bark, safflower seed, Job's tears and Chinese quince fruit. The lactic acid bacteria are selected from the group consisting of Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus gasseri, Lactobacillus delbrueckii, Lactobacillus fermentum, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Lactobacillus helveticus, Streptococcus thermophilus, Streptococcus lactis, Enterococcus faecalis, Enterococcus faecalis, Bifidobacterium brave and Bifidobacterium longum. |
