A method of setting a pole in the ground. A cavity is prepared in the groun d extending down from ground level. The pole has an end placed in the cavity. Organic fiber pellet material, expansible with the addition of water thereto, is introduce d to the cavity and the cavity filled. Water is then added to produce a porous organic cake firm ly holding the post in place.
