An image processing apparatus, a projector and an image processing method are provided to correct distorted colors of the projector due to a color change of a screen and a lamp or lighting of surroundings. Brightness and contrast of red, green, and blue lights of inputted image information are adjusted in an image adjusting unit(10). And the inputted image information is outputted through an output unit(20) such as a multiplexer. An image controlling unit(50) adjusts brightness and contrast in the image adjusting unit. The image controlling unit adjusts the image adjusting unit according to surrounding environment of an area where an image is made. A collecting unit(40) collects the surrounding environment.
