[Also in Group XX] A photographic camera having adjusting devices for exposure time and diaphragm aperture which are controllable by means of a setting member common thereto in such a manner that the adjustment range of such a setting member is defined with uniform exposure value graduation is characterized by the feature that the adjusting devices for exposure time and 'diaphragm aperture are selectively controlled either by a setting member adapted to be automatically set in cooperation with a light intensity measuring device ' or by a manually actuated setting member and that, in dependence upon the shifting of a change-over device from the setting "Automatic" to the setting "Non-Automatic" the parts of the adjusting device for exposure time and diaphragm aperture co-operating with the automatic setting member are brought into a position in which they cannot be affected by means of the automatic setting member, whilst an exposure value setting is carried out by means of the manually actuated setting member. As shown (Fig. 2), the exposure time adjusting device comprises two levers 25 and 26, lever 26 of which is rigidly mounted on a shaft 27 coupled to a conventional pallet and star wheel retard mechanism, and lever 25 of which is freely rotatable on shaft 27 but is urged by spring 28 into engagement with an abutment on lever 26. The diaphragm adjusting device (Fig. 3) comprises two levers 15 and 16 rotatably mounted on a shaft 17, lever 16 of which is coupled to a diaphragm blade actuating ring 4 by means of pin' and slot connection 24, 16b, and lever 15 of which is spring-urged into contact with an abutment 16a on the lever 16. Exposures with automatic exposure value setting are obtained as follows: On depression of release 12, automatic setting ring 7 runs down in the anticlockwise direction (Fig. 2) under the tension of a spring 10 until a scanning member (not shown) on the shaft 11 of a pinion engaging a racked portion of the ring 7 comes against an abutment member of an exposure meter (not shown), whereby the exposure time and diaphragm aperture are respectively set to values corresponding to the measured light value by means of cams 7d and 7c and follower pins 29 and 22 on the levers 25 and 15. Manual setting of the exposure value is effected as follows: Manual setting member and change-over ring 8 is first rotated clockwise (Fig. 2) whereupon spring-urged catches 33 and 32 are released by pins 8d and 8c and these catches hold the levers 25 and 15 out of engagement with cams 7d and 7c. The exposure time and diaphragm aperture values are then set respectively by means of cams 8d and 8a on manual setting ring 8 engaged by follower pins 30 and 23 on the levers 26 and 16. In addition to the ring 8 having the two cams 8d and 8a, this ring may also have cam portions providing adjustment of the diaphragm at constant exposure time (1/30th sec.) for flash photographs and further cam portions providing adjustment of the diaphragm with a bulb exposure device in operation. In a modification (Fig. 1, not shown), the two levers 25, 26 may be dispensed with and a single lever provided for co-operation with the automatic setting ring 7, the whole of the manual setting range then being associated with a single shutter speed (1/30th sec.).</p> |
