PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately correct fluctuation in characteristics of a drive transistor even when one horizontal scanning period is short.

SOLUTION: When a threshold correction operation of a driving transistor is carried out by dividing into a plurality of periods, a potential to be applied to the drain electrode of the driving transistor in at least a part of the period from the end point of the preceding correction period and the start point of the next correction period is controlled to an intermediate potential between a first potential for lighting and a second potential for initialization to be applied in a preparation period of the first time correction period.
