PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct any excessive or insufficient extraction of image regions by simple procedures. SOLUTION: After a medical image P is divided into a plurality of basic regions BR, these basic regions BR are integrated into an integrated region UR on the basis of their respective features, and the kind KI of the integrated region UR is recognized. Further, a display 20 shows the integrated regions UR classified, for instance, according to their kinds. Here when a user specifies the position to correct the results of classifying the kinds KI and indicates the details of correction, the display 20 shows the basic region BR at the specified position and corrects the kind KI of this basic region BR.
